HORSEMAN
DUBROOM
MP3 ARTIST REVIEW |
| WWW,
July 2014 - A talented and skillful drummer
and vocalist, the versatile Horseman has
been active in Reggae Music since the 1980's
when a track with his vocal works was
released on none other than the Greensleeves
Record Label. Since then, he has been
working with several well established names
like the Mad Professor and his ARIWA Studio.
On top of that, Horseman has been very
active with Prince Fatty in providing (DUB)
Reggae producers with crucial material.
Horseman's
raw and militant, yet very friendly and open
voice can at times be compared to Culture's
Jospeph Hill even though the similarity is
in the same style rather than by seeing
copies. The versatile MC is able to deliver
a message of peace and love, improvising on
riddims and singing/toasting ad-lib's to
mention just a few things.

- MUSICAL 45 2 KEEP U ALIVE EP
DUBROOM
MP3 REVIEW |
| WWW,
July 2014 - Two full-length Discomixes
and three Dubs: yes, with almost 30 minutes
of music this is the first EP from the
Dubroom Studio in the new 2014 sound.
Featuring Horseman and Dillinger as well as
a number of singers delivering a conscious
message, this release brings you both a
Steppers Roots and a Rub a Dub vibe. Here is
a Musical 45 to keep you alive!
The concept
of a DJ chanting over a riddim and singers
jumping in and out is not new, not original,
not uncommon. Where many styles and genres
have incorporated the concept, no one can
take away the fact that this all started in
Jamaica during the 1970's and even before
that. No one can deny that Roots Reggae
music, mixed in Dub style, is a perfect
foundation for a DJ to chant over and
exactly that is what you can find in the two
Discomixes. The first one (Love Not War) is
a pumping Rub a Dub style, the second a
joyous yet serious Steppers Roots.

NISHKA
WITH HORSEMAN AND DENNIS ALCAPONE - DUB
HURTS/HURTS DUB
DUBROOM
MP3 REVIEW |
| WWW,
June 2014 - Straight from the Dubroom
Studio: two heavyweight Roots Reggae Dubwise
tracks featuring Nishka, Horseman and Dennis
Alcapone on an original Dubroom riddim with
real horns and real Dub mixing by Messian
Dread. Dis ya tune come fe nice up the
nation!
Years ago,
Messian Dread and the well-known UK DUB act
Alpha and Omega did an a-capella exchange
resulting in an
excellent tune by the UK Dub Twins and a
-now very much dated- track
by Messian Dread. To celebrate the current
sonical developments in the Dubroom Studio
(yes, a new sound), a complete new track was
build on this a-capella from the classic
"Show Me A Purpose",
(non-exclusive but licensed) vocals by two
mighty MC's strategically added and
subsequently made into the Dubs you can
download for free in both CD Quality Wave
Audio or High Quality MP3 files before
listening.

- SOUND SYSTEM VOCALS VOLUME TWO
DUBROOM
SOUNDWARE REVIEW |
| WWW,
June 2014 - In Part One we had a short
introduction to Horseman and his raw,
heavyweight voice. We could even listen to a
Dub carrying his voice taken straight from
Sound System Vocals Parts One and Two. Now,
in this review we will go much deeper as
we'll take a look at just what the material
brings for the producer of (DUB) Reggae
Music.
Sound
System Vocals Part Two is actually
interchangeably connected with Part One. In
fact, there is no real obvious reason for
separate packages other than perhaps a
financial one. So let's talk a little bit
about that before we continue with our
review of Sound System Vocals Parts One and
Two.

HORSEMAN
- SOUND SYSTEM VOCALS VOLUME ONE
DUBROOM
SOUNDWARE REVIEW |
| WWW,
June 2014 - He's been there and done that.
What? Performing as a youth MC in the 1980's
and getting yourself released on the then
legendary Greensleeves label. Ever since,
Horseman has been active as a drummer and
skillful MC for him and her and the rest as
well. In other words, here is a veteran DJ
from the Sound System culture and he is
ready to spice up your productions and mixes
in the first volume of DubDrop's Sound
System Vocals series.
Vocals are,
together with horns, a much coveted element
for every (DUB) Reggae producer. For owners
of Sound Systems or selectors, vocals are
even essential. This is where Sound System
Vocals series by DubDrops (yes, from
DrumDrops) comes at the rescue of many,
including here in the Dubroom. To start with
part one (and two)
featuring Horseman.
