Dub Gathering
DUBROOM
NETLABEL REVIEW |
WWW,
August 2012 - They started their website to
promote their -then new- STEP 4 I
compilation albums way back in 2006. That
was two years after it's founders formed
their own DUB Collective, called
Ondubground. The impressive compilation
series is now "only" a part of the
large quantity of online releases by the
Original DUB Gathering.
Currently,
this Net Label centered around Ondubground
as well as other France-based producers,
vocalists and players of instruments has
become a well established name in the Online
DUB Massive world-wide.

BLACKSTARLINERS - ROARING LION
DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
May 2010 - The French Net Label
"Original Dub Gathering" has made
it's name in the online (DUB) Reggae
Community for quite a while now. Their first
release of this year will only add weight to
that name: Introducing the Blackstarliners,
original and massive UK DUB for which I and
I give thanks.
They've
played with Zion Train, Bush Doctors and
Improvisators Dub to name just three
well-known acts within UK DUB and Roots with
which the Blackstarliners have been
performing in Europe. They play in the same
style, with the same intensiveness,
intentionally heavyweight UK DUB where
electronica and programmed material both
take their -essential- place.

DANI
ITES - ROOTS MELODY
DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
May 2010 - After the short opening featuring
just the melodica, the Drum and Bass jump
right in there, setting the tone for the
rest of the 5-track EP by Spanish
multi-instrumentalist, producer and singer
Dani Ites.
Ites
and Ites!
Dani Ites
is blessed with many talents. His debut
album showcases several, two of them being
his productional skills and ability to play
melodica throughout the five tracks without
becoming boring. The brethren is a member of
Barcelona's Humble Lion Sound System, where
he is said to often steal the show with
improvisations on melodica and vocal works.
Unfortunately, his vocal works remain within
the Humble Lion sessions until this date
(may 2010), as there's no singing throughout
the EP.

DAWA
HI-FI - ANTIK THINGS
DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
June 2009 - Brand New, Good For You: at
least for us as listeners and searchers for
the better online DUB. Antik Things refers
to the fact that the five tracks on Dawa Hi-Fi's
début EP are produced one or two years ago.
Does it matter?
The French
label Original DUB Gathering, started by DUB
Collective Ondubground, knows how to
introduce artists to the online massive. Too
bad, the collective have not released any début
album on their own label, but with Panda Dub
and Dawa Hi-Fi they got some impressive
material already.

DAWA
HI-FI - DUB TINGS
DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
July 2012 - DUB Tings, the second DAWA
Hi-Fi release on the French Net Label "Original
DUB Gathering", features
musician and engineer Val Dawa in a
remarkable new old way: everything is
played, mixed, recorded and programmed by
hand, as much as possible the Old Days are
recalled. In other words, there's as little
computerized elements as possible.
Don't
expect to be treated by a couple of 70's
copycat tunes, though. That would not only
be an insult to the works of the French
producer but equally to the releases from
that time. DUB Tings is "just" an
original, contemporary work in the EuroDUB
and Roots style which established itself
throughout the last decade or so. A style
which distinguishes itself by it's heartical
riddims and massive productions, often based
on Conscious concepts.

Full
Dub - Brain Stage
DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
August 2012 - In this brand new release
by the french based Original
DUB Gathering Net Label, we hook
up with Full DUB, producer based in Dijon
France. Spaced out DUB with loads of digital
effect, vocal snippets and elements of
Dubstep, even tolerable for those that don't
specifically like the dub-derived style.
Six tunes, filled with examples of Full
DUB's creativity. Definitely based on the
Reggae rhythm, with strategically placed
excursions into the broader digital domain.
This is some high quality, intelligent music
in this August the third twenty twelve
release of Original
DUB Gathering.

FULL
DUB - POTENTIODUB
DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
July 2012 - Those who know their
mustard, know that Dijon is the place where
some pretty fiery and sharp stuff is
produced. It is this location where we find
FULL DUB, a talented producer when it comes
to electronic DUB and Dubstep. Fiery and
sharp, that is!
In five
tracks, we're being introduced to the
complex and in-depth works by the French
producer and instrumentalist. He puts
everything there, even to a live violin! The
music is more than heavily based on Roots
but there are elements of the wobbliness of
Dubstep although -fortunately- the true
foundation of the bass is not sacrificed.

FU
STEPS - HOLIDAYS
DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
July 2012 - Two vocals and two (more
than excellent) DUB versions straight from
this vocal duo who hails from Rouen (France)
in an EP that cannot be ignored or denied:
the "Original
DUB Gathering" Net Label did
it again. Did what? Blessing the
(online) DUB massive once more, of course!
Just two
titles? Yes. This EP is actually a teaser
which aims (and rightfully so) to convince
the listener to buy more of their
-excellent- material, for example from the
Fu Steps Website. The vocal duo, who
had their debut on none other than the
mighty Conscious Sounds label only need two
vocals and two DUB versions to introduce
themselves and their heartical singing.

Leah Rosier and Uptown Rebel - Ire Vibe
DUBROOM
MP3 REVIEW |
WWW,
September 2014 - One vocal and two Dubs from
the French Original DUB Gathering Net Label,
presenting the Ire Vibe EP featuring Dutch
female singer Leah Rosier riding a, well,
Irie riddim by the French Dub producer
Uptown Rebel. Nuff niceness going on, in
this well digital and well heartical track.
Bordeaux-based
Uptown Rebel, whose album "Random
Road" was reviewed earlier in the
Dubroom shows his ability to create digital
Roots with an impact once again. With Leah
Rosier from Amsterdam singing about how
Ireness will even land at the doorstep on
enemies, at least when it is done in a
musical way. Nuff niceness, no badness.

MASSIVE
DUB CORPORATION - CONCEPTION
DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
July 2012 - There's just one negative
thing to say about this solid new release
from the French Net Label "Original
DUB Gathering": there's just
five tracks on the album. These five tracks
leave you with a desire to listen more MDC
material, for the simple reason this is
indeed some Massive Roots and DUB.
Featuring
vocalists Brother Culture (UK) and Fu-Steps
(France), a militant Steppers remix from the
well-known King Earthquake sound from UK,
another Steppers DUB remix called
"Spiritual War", while opening up
with an interesting track that carries a
hint towards "Dubstep": that's
"Conception" in a nutshell.

ONDUBGROUND
- LOLA
DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
May 2010 - From the Net Label ORIGINAL
DUB GATHERING that provides the
online (DUB) Reggae community with several
more than crucial releases, with massive
music played by the Label's house band,
vocalists and Dub engineers to bless up the
Steppers riddim: Here is LOLA!
In four
different mixes, we're being introduced to
the Lola riddim by the French Roots Reggae
Dub band Ondubground. It's a massive,
solid and still highly danceable Steppers
riddim which is voiced and mixed as skillful
as the riddim is played (and recorded).

OnDubGround and Jahko Lion - Chapter One EP
DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
September 2014 - French (DUB) Reggae band
OnDubGround with five tracks featuring
Jamaican singer Jahko Lion. Both showing
their versatility as Jahko rides laid-back,
Ire riddims and heavy steppers with the same
ease as they are played into the multitrack
recorder.
In the
abundance of water, the fool is thirsty.
Someone said it sometime and it could very
well be said about anyone looking for
conscious (DUB) Reggae and not knowing about
the enormous wealth of music from the online
Net Labels. Thanks to the Internet, the
world wide Roots Massive connects and
produces collaborations that were only
available for the industrial and commercial
boys and girls.

PANDA
DUB - BLACK BAMBOO
DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
April 2010 - Panda Dub's latest 10-track Net
Album Black Bamboo is one next release in
what can in the meantime be considered as a
brand new genre within (online) Dub: FR DUB!
Strong
electronic drum and bass lines, melodic
parts and sweet vocals, original and rare
instrumentations, everything mixed together
in authentic DUBWISE style: Panda Dub did it
again and so he deserves to be heard once
again, too.

PANDADUB
- SUBCONTRAIRE
DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
June 2009 - Four riddims, five titles:
introducing the French based DUB producer
Panda DUB. Straight from Lyon, this Dub
Stepper comes with some serious Digital
Niceness for the DUB Lovers worldwide.
Too bad,
that it's just 5 tracks. But hey, Panda
Dub's début is definitely promising. A good
choice of the French Net Label on which this
EP is released. Original DUB Gathering,
known from their excellent Step 4 I DUB
Compilation series previously reviewed on
the Dubroom, definitely put themselves on
the growing map of great DUB Net Labels.

RAID - FROM THE TOP
DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
September 2014 - Get ready for something
really, really crucial: Roots Raid's
"From The Top" is an album that
you just have to hear. And since it's
offered as a free download from the Original
DUB Gathering Net Label, there is simply
no excuse. Read on why.
Roots Raid
is a cooperation project of the bassist of
the French DUB Reggae Band Ondubground and
Bongo Ben. They're based in the heart of the
French country and are part of the Eurodub
and Roots Movement. "From The Top"
is an album where the two producers showcase
their art and skills, along with vocalists
like Ranking Joe and Billy Berry.

TIBURK
SOUND SYSTEM - TASTE IT RIGHT
DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
July 2010 - Originally, Tiburk hails
from St. Etienne in France, where he was a
first hand witness of the rising and shining
of the French Dub scene in the late 1990's.
His full-length début album, released this
year on the Original
Dub Gathering Net Label, fuses the sound
of electronic Dub with all kinds of
soundscapes like vocal hooks and localized
instruments.
In fact,
"Taste It Right" is a kind of
exploration into just what can be done on a
solid foundation of Roots Reggae drum and
bass lines, an exploration which -as far as
we here in the Dubroom are concerned- is a
welcome addition to not just the nice
catalogue of the Original DUB Gathering Net
Label but also to the whole spectrum of the
better French DUB producers.

DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
June 2009 - Founded by the French DUB
Collective Ondubground, Original DUB
Gathering (ODG) stands for representing the
DUB runnings inna France. ODG is a Sound
System and a Net Label.
Step 4 I
Part One is the first of a line of
interesting compilations...
The first
release of the French Net Label Original DUB
Gathering opens up with a massive steppers
DUB. A crucial introduction to French DUB
indeed, even though the title ("Russian
Style") suggests otherwise.

June 2009 - From France, With DUB: Four
Massive Steppers in the second compilation
EP from the Original DUB Gathering Net
Label. Get ready for some serious Drum and
Bass niceness in 21st Century Style!
Truth be
told: even though we're almost in the second
decade of the new century, there are still
people who claim that Digital Music cannot
be, ah, well, eeh... music. This EP won't
convince them otherwise, but they will be
missing out on some serious good vibrations.

DUBROOM
MP3 ALBUM REVIEW |
WWW,
June 2009 - In part three of their
excellent line of DUB compilations, the
French based Original DUB Gathering goes
outernational and gathers ten Ire DUB tunes
from the Online DUB Underground.
Opening
with an Ire and Upfull track by Online DUB
Artist Meef Chaloin, Step 4 I Part Three
sets the vibe. It's about Ireness, and
Reggae can provide some crucial Ireness.
There's not much dubbing going on in that
first track, neither in the second track.
The music, however is nice and sweet.

June 2009 - Another impressive DUB

precise: the fourth episode of the Step 4 I
series doesn't carry the subtitle
"Serious Dub Makers" for nothing.
When you
like DUB, especially UK DUB, you will simply
not want to miss out on this great
compilation. Twelve superb tracks, fitting
well together and creating a DUB Vibe that
is kind of really crucial. When you're into
contemporary electronic DUB, that is.

Industrial
