DUBROOM MP3 ALBUM REVIEW

WWW, February 2021 - In what is the last chapter of the crucial IDC Showcase series thusfar, we're being treated with ten vocals and ten dubs by ten representatives of the Italian Dub Community. And once again, everything is there. From analogue recordings and live musicians to heavy digital excursions into Dub Step realms, conscious Roots Reggae and instrumentals.

It's not easy to compile different tracks that themselves have been produced in completely different ways. When you listen to Jambassa's entry that has the very descriptive title "About Sampling", you've just heard two Roots Reggae vocals and versions. and are about to check some nice digital steppers by King Kietu. Still everything sounds nicely together and that is due to the mastering skills of Billy Man from the Rupa Rupa Studio in Salerno, Italy. A word of respect, where it is due and not often given since everything is about the music and the artists.

King Kietu and Mighty Prophet both come with a massive intrumental steppers with excellent Dubs attached. And yes, its about the Dub in this compilation but the instrumentals themselves should not be underestimated either.

The second half of the album starts with an excellent Roots Reggae track by Music Ina House called AlleluJah, with upfull spiritual lyrics perfectly voiced by Gialoman. Excellent version too, called Sax Vibes and Dub. Some impressive solo works on the sax, followed by some deeper Dub work. More conscious lyrics come from Sista Sherin as she rides a riddim with some deep bass by Mystical Powa. With a Dub that deepens the vibe, of course.

Paco & Frank's "Be Wise" carries, as the title suggests, some good advice. Not just that, though. The music is solid, and the Dub stands out which says something about the quality since this is yet another compilation in the list of "all filler, no filler". Joshua Hales and Sista Habesha's "Iyah Pray" will definitely appeal to the Conscious Massive as well.

The compilation closes with Wicked Dub Division, track called Cascade Dub. Yes, two Dubs that perfectly match the quality of Wicked Dub Division's productions in earlier volumes of this series.

Italian Community Dub Showcase Volume 5: another massive release, that you simply have to have when you are the collector of the better works in Dub and Reggae. The album is available for free download exclusively from I-NITY.com.

Will there be a part 6? At the moment this review is written, the release is just over two years old so who knows...
